Happy Fourth Quarter, friends! Autumn is one of my favorite seasons. It's a time to enjoy cozy sweaters, fuzzy socks, warm pumpkin (or cider) beverages, and fireside chats. It's also a great time to start planning for the future, as we near the end of the year.
Unfortunately, the reality is that we all die some day and we can't pick the date and time. Many of us may also reach a point where we can no longer make sound decisions for ourselves. You can preserve your own peace of mind and save your loved ones a lot of (added) heartache by planning your estate in advance. A good estate plan provides a way to implement your wishes in the event of incapacity and/or death.
I get it. You are young(ish), at least at heart. You are happy. You do not want to think about death or incapacity, because why ruin your cozy fall mood? The thing is, life is unpredictable. Things happen. Planning for your own incapacity and/or death may not seem like a positive thing to do, but, it really is. It's the one way your voice can be heard if the big "something" happens to you, and your loved ones will thank you for it.
At Melissa Youngman, PA, we offer clients all types of trust and estate planning, including wills, advanced healthcare directives, lady bird deeds, trusts, business succession planning and buy/sell agreements. We would love to meet with you to design the perfect estate plan tailored just for you. We are not a "one size fits all" firm that provides every client with the same plan. We spend a lot of time getting to know our clients to make sure that their plan fits all of their needs.
If you still need more convincing that now is the time to start planning your estate, below are some very good reasons to do so.
You just got married.
Your just got divorced.
You have or are expecting children.
Your current estate documents are outdated. (We recommend an update every 3-4 years).
You just lost a loved one and did not enjoy the probate process.
You own a business.
You are a human person with loved ones (including pets).
If you fall into any of these categories, give us a call at 407.374.1372 to schedule an initial consultation before the year is over. We will waive the $150 consultation fee for all appointments booked on or before October 31, 2018.
